Dr Muffazal Lakdawala
Dr. Lakdawala graduated from the prestigious Grant Medical College in Mumbai and did his Masters in Surgery from BYL Nair Hospital. He went to train further in bariatric surgery at Cleveland clinic in USA and at University of Ghent hospital in Belgium. He also trained in advanced colorectal cancer surgery in Seoul, Korea.
Dr. Lakdawala is the Chairman of the Institute of Minimal Invasive Surgical Sciences and Research Center at Saifee Hospital, Mumbai and also heads the Section of Laparoscopic GI Oncology. He was the first surgeon in western India to perform a total laparoscopic Whipples pancreatico-duodenectomy for cancer of head of pancreas.
Dr. Lakdawala holds the distinction of operating on Asia’s most obese man in China in 2006. He is the pioneer of single incision bariatric surgery in India and performed the first single incision sleeve gastrectomy in September 2009. Till date he has performed over 3,000 bariatric procedures and has the largest series of revision bariatric surgeries to his credit.
He is also deeply involved in training younger surgeons and is a Professor at the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences. Every year 4 post MS candidates train under him for bariatric and laparoscopic surgery. He regularly runs live surgery workshops and has been invited to conduct teaching workshops in almost every Asian country like Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Bangladesh, China, South Korea, Sri Lanka and Middle East.
He was also the first Indian surgeon to transmit live surgery to USA in the Obesity Week organized by the prestigious ASMBS (American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery) first of its kind, Indo-Italian collaborative Revisional bariatric surgery workshop has been planned for April 2016 at Naples, Italy where Dr. Lakdawala will join forces with the immediate past president of IFSO, Dr Luigi Angrisani
He has been a part of some very prestigious committees like the IDF committee that formulated the new guidelines for bariatric surgery for Asian patients. He was one of the co-directors in the international sleeve gastrectomy expert panel in Florida in 2011 and also the IFSO-APC consensus statement in Japan in 2011. Dr. Lakdawala is on the board of Asian Endosurgery Task Force (AETF). To add another feather in his cap Dr. Lakdawala is the President elect of IFSO- Asia Pacific chapter and will assume presidency in the year 2017.

Dr. Jallo was granted his MB, ChB from Mosul University College of Medicine in IRAQ in 1981, his postgraduate Arab Board Certification in Internal Medicine CABM in 1992, Fellowship of The American College of Endocrinology FACE in 2015 and certified with Diploma in Dyslipidemia from Boston University School of Medicine, USA in 2014.
He is Adjunct Clinical Professor, Department of Clinical Sciences, College of Medicine at Gulf and Medical University & Senior Consultant Endocrinologist in Thumbay Hospital GMCHRC - UAE.
He is the Coordinator for MBBS Endocrinology Module in GMU, Editorial Board member for many international Diabetes & Endocrinology periodicals, reviewer for other more and active Principle Investigator in many national & international clinical studies in Cardio metabolic researches.

Dr. Gundu H. R. Rao
Gundu H. R. Rao obtained his B.Sc degree from the University of Mysore and B.Sc (Hons) and M.Sc., degrees from the Poona University. He immigrated to the USA in 1965 and specialized in grain storage technology and obtained his Ph.D degree from the Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas. After working as, a post-doctoral fellow at the Texas A&M University and University of Minnesota, he joined department of Pharmacology as an NIH fellow to get training in toxicology. He has been with the University of Minnesota Medical School for over 40 years.
He is a naturalized US citizen and a tenured professor in the department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology. He also has faculty appointments in Anesthesiology, Lillehei Heart Institute, and Biomedical Engineering Institute. He is an author or co-author of over 300 publications in the field of interest (thrombosis and stroke). In the past, he has consulted various medical device development companies in the Twin Cities including 3M, Medtronic Inc, St Jude Medical, Medical CV Inc, Vascular Solutions, APP Tech, Endocardial Solutions, PlaCor Inc., Medical Innovations Inc, Hypertension Diagnostics Inc. and Boston Scientific on problems related to biocompatibility, thrombosis and stroke.
He was the visiting Professor in the Department of Surgery and Pharmacology, Kings College, in 1986 and in the Royal College of Surgeons, England in the summer of 1987, and in the Thrombosis Research Institute, London in 1988. He taught one summer at the Institute of Human Physiology, University of Padua, Padua, Italy. He also served as senior consultant to the Government of India, for three successive years (1990-93), under a United Nations program called TOKTEN. He also served as a visiting professor in the Institute of Human Physiology, University of Padua, Italy during 1995-96.
He is currently listed as the Senior Fulbright Specialist. He started a society (South Asian Society on Atherosclerosis and Thrombosis, SASAT) to create awareness on vascular diseases in 1993. Since then he is organizing international symposiums on Atherosclerosis and Thrombosis in India, every other year. He has edited and published eight books under the aegis of SASAT.

While working as Head of surgery , have helped in establishing & developing dedicated bariatric centers in different hospitals in Dubai since 1990. Currently working as Director of bariatric department in Al Zahra hospital Dubai , running a dedicated bariatric programme successfully .
Dr Girish juneja is a well experienced Laparo-bariatric surgeon with more than 30 yrs. of experience in surgical field. He had his basic & advanced laparoscopic training from nine wells medical college , UK and did his diploma in minimal access(laparoscopic) surgery from France. Did his fellowship in bariatric surgery from Netherland. He is also a international fellow of ASMBS, USA.
Academically he is actively involved in teaching laparo-baraitric surgery to young surgeons, has organized various international conferences & has delivered CME lectures for fellow doctors & actively involved in public education for obesity .
Dr. Peter John Mansfield
Dr Mansfield was a Research Fellow in Community Medicine at UCH Medical School, London before beginning Good Healthkeeping, an experimental GP practice intended to encourage health.
He is now an aviation medical specialist with extensive experience in the prolongation of health in middle aged pilots. He has published several books, articles in learned journals and has presented at a number of international conferences.
Dr Alexander Vaiserman
Alexander Vaiserman was born in KIev, Ukraine, in 1957. His research interests comprise epigenetics, epidemiology and experimental gerontology. He earned his MSc Degree in cytology and developmental biology from Kiev State University in 1984, and his DSc degrees in normal physiology from Institute of Gerontology (Kiev, Ukraine) in 1991 and 2004, respectively.
Since 1978, he has had a permanent position in the Institute of Gerontology (Kiev, Ukraine). Since 2010 to present hi is the head of the Laboratory of Epigenetics in the Institute of Gerontology (Kiev, Ukraine). He is the member of the Editorial Boards of the journals Biogerontology, Frontiers in Genetics of Aging, Journal of Genomic Medicine and Pharmacogenomics, and Journal of Gerontology & Geriatric Research.
